SNEAK PEEK – Alexandria/Pineville Celebrates While Giving Back

Rapides Parish Fair
Funktober Fest

It’s only October, yet this stop along the Louisiana Holiday Trail of Lights is already in the holiday spirit. Between the 55th Annual Rapides Parish Fair, Funktober Fest, and a calendar full of other amazing October events, Alexandria/Pineville is going all-out in the entertainment department this month. Aside from the food and fun offerings throughout the city comes an opportunity to give back–which is what the holidays are all about, right?! Alexandria/Pineville will “fall” into the holiday season this month as the Rapides Parish Fair celebrates its 55th year from October 14-18. An event filled with entertainment for the entire family, the Fair will host a variety of food vendors, rides, games, and contests, all while giving back to the community. A $3 discount for the ride armband is given to those bringing a donation to a local food bank. I’m really looking forward to all of the rides, and I will definitely be bringing something to donate to the food bank! October 24, Spirits Food & Friends–a local restaurant that serves the most amazing burger ever, mind you–will host the first annual Funktoberfest, benefiting the Tipitina’s Foundation “Instruments a Comin'” program for local schools. Between the home-brew competition and music festival, featuring live music by Earphunk and Raw Oyster Cult, this is an experience you won’t want to miss, so make sure to get your tickets now–I did! Being the music enthusiast that I am, I jump at every opportunity to support live music, but luckily for me, Funktoberfest isn’t the only opportunity to experience live entertainment this year. In fact, Alexandria/Pineville’s holiday calendar is filled with events and entertainment–I can’t wait to see and experience the festivities that the cities have planned!  These events, along with others on the Alexandria/Pineville calendar for the month of October, are just a small glimpse into the wide array of offerings the cities bring to the table. With so much to do in October, I can’t wait to watch the cities transform as the holidays approach. The holiday season is right around the corner, so don’t wait too long to start planning your holiday adventures along the Trail! Visit our website for a calendar of events in each city and subscribe to our e-newsletter to stay up-to-date on everything happening along the Trail as the cities prepare for the holidays.
