October Sneak Peek: Minden Festivities Happening

October is finally here, which means the holidays are right around the corner! With the first events taking place in a little over a month, the cities are bustling with activity.  Take Minden for instance. This week October 6 – 10, the Webster Parish Fair, known for its 4-H Swine and Pee Wee Pig Show and Dress Your Pet Costume Contest, is in full swing!  I am really looking forward to the live entertainment happening each night, and Lynn Dorsey, Executive Director of the Webster Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau, tells me that her favorite part of the fair is the colorful lights on the rides blinking and flashing to light up the sky – much like the lights along the Holiday Trail of Lights guiding you from one great city to the next! A contestant in the Dress Your Pet Costume Contest at the Webster Parish Fair.

And just like the Holiday Trail of Lights with events happening from November through January, Minden doesn’t have just one great event taking place this October!  Muddy Bottoms Mud Stock is happening October 8 – 11 and is sure to bring out the adventurer in everyone featuring outdoor escapades, contests, activities, and great musical entertainment by Jared Mourad and Dustin Lynch.  While I love a good show, the featured contests and activities – like Decorate Your Campsite, Rubber Duckies Search, and Redneck Games – are really sparking my interest. I’m so excited to see the “muddy” side of Webster Parish! Trace Adkins performing at Muddy Bottoms last year.

So as you can see, the fall is the perfect time to get a sneak peek at the festive cities along the Trail. With so much activity happening now, I can only imagine what Minden will be like during the holidays all dressed up with twinkling lights, life-size nutcrackers, German music, food and fun!  Minden’s Fasching Celebration is only a month away!  I better start planning my trip today, and you can too.
