Enjoy Fireworks, Food Trucks and Festive Fun at Rockets Over the Red

If you are still going to have family in from Thanksgiving, the Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival on Nov. 24 is the perfect chance to show them the great things that Shreveport-Bossier has to offer. Rockets Over the Red is a unique festival that simultaneously takes place in both Shreveport and Bossier City. You can take part in the holiday celebrations and get a great view of the fireworks from Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets in Bossier City or at Riverview Park in Shreveport.

At Riverview Park, there will be an assortment of food truck vendors including Miguelito Burrito, Wonderstick, Garcon du Bayou, Johnny’s Pizza and Fair Food by Tracy Duck. Throughout the evening, entertainment will be provided by The Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band, Willie Jones, Sweet Nae & The Christmas Belles, and Lance Thompson. Festival-goers can also participate in the double-elimination cornhole bag toss tournament that will start at 3 p.m. behind the Shreveport Aquarium.

Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets will have entertainment from Red River Pipes & Drums, Westwood Junior Leadership Team, Bossier Parish Talented Arts Program, and the Bossier Parish Community College Jazz Band. This location also offers the opportunity to shop all of the remaining Black Friday deals while you wait for the fireworks to start. From Build-A-Bear to Bass Pro Shops to Lane Bryant, there’s a store for everyone to explore and enjoy. Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets also offers a variety of restaurants to visit, whether you’re in need of a quick snack or you want to grab dinner for the whole family.

Both sides of the river will feature the largest outdoor Christmas trees in the region, which is where you will be able to find Santa if you want to take a picture with him. Kids can enjoy a donation-based bounce house put on by Warrior Network at both locations. Warrior Network will also be selling hot and cold beverages as a fundraiser to benefit local troops.

Regardless of which side of the celebration you decide to attend, it’s bound to be a night to remember for your whole family. The festival is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with fireworks starting at 6:45 p.m. Admission to the festival is free, and at both locations the first 500 kids to arrive will receive a free gift.
