Shreveport-Bossier kicks off Holiday Season at Tree Lighting Ceremony
Tonight, Nov. 12, 2015, marks the official beginning of the Holiday Season in Shreveport-Bossier at the 10th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets at 6 p.m. Mayor Walker, Santa and Mrs. Claus will ring in the season by lighting the 30-foot-tall Christmas tree as “snow” gently blankets the banks of the Red River. The lighting will feature performances by cheerleaders from local schools including Kingston Elementary, Waller Elementary, Haughton Middle School, Bossier High School and Legacy Elementary. Admission is free.
Santa’s bringing early presents to the children of Shreveport-Bossier. There will be free light up necklaces for the first 500 kids and will be available while supplies last. So, be sure to get the whole family there early!
There are more ways to get jolly this holiday season at the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets. Be sure to attend the Bass Pro Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 14 at 4:30 p.m. to officially celebrate the arrival of Santa in Shreveport-Bossier, and Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival on November 28 at 2 p.m. with fireworks at 6:30 p.m.
