Rockets Over the Red is Bigger and Better This Year

On Nov. 30, Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival returns to Shreveport-Bossier. This annual festival has continued to get better each year and this year is no exception. Both sides of the Red River are packed full of entertainment that will make for a great post-Thanksgiving celebration.

On both sides of the river, attendees will get to see the largest outdoor Christmas trees in the region, take free pictures with Santa, and end the night with an incredible fireworks show by Pyromania Fireworks. The first 500 children to arrive on each side of the river will also be given a free present. Bayou Bounce is also providing a Kid’s Zone area at each location where kids can get unlimited jump bands for $10.

At the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, the fun kicks off at 4 p.m. with a performance by the Bossier Parish Talented Arts Jazz Band. Magnolia Mae, a local folk band, will be performing throughout the rest of the evening. The Christmas Tree lighting, led by Bossier City’s Mayor Lo Walker, will take place at 5:50 p.m.

At Riverview Park, the day starts at 2 p.m. with a screening of “Elf,” followed by performances from The Syndicate, Lance Thompson and Tipsey the Band. Throughout the day, attendees can get their picture taken with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear and try free samples from Shreveport Coca-Cola. The night ends at 7 p.m. with the Christmas tree lighting and fireworks show.

This year, attendees will be able to ride the Jingle Bell Bus, sponsored by SporTran. This new partnership makes getting around for Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival much easier. It will transport guests to both sides of the river, with bus stops being located at Festival Plaza, Shreveport Aquarium, the Red River District, Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, and the East Bank District. The bus will run from 2-9 p.m. and will continuously circulate every 20 minutes. One-way tickets are $1.25 for adults and $.60 for children.
