One of the best parts of the holiday season is the signature flavors like gingerbread, eggnog and peppermint that are often only available during the month of December. Local restaurants in Shreveport-Bossier have taken everyone’s favorite flavors and put their own spin on them. Whether it’s candy, cupcakes or coffee, you can find a version of these flavors in just about anything. Just be sure to try them before they’re gone for the year!
This holiday season, Bon Temps Coffeehouse is selling the Jack Frost and the Iced Gingerbread Cookie Latte. The Jack Frost is an espresso-based drink with white chocolate and hints of peppermint and vanilla. It’s then topped with whipped cream and crushed peppermint. The Iced Gingerbread Cookie is made up of gingerbread spices and white chocolate, topped with whipped cream and gingerbread crumbs. Bon Temps is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
The winter drinks menu at Rhino Coffee includes the White Mocha Matcha Latte, Eggnog Chai Latte, Peppermint Hot Chocolate, and the S’mores Latte. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for their seasonal pastries. The availability differs from day-to-day, but you might be able to get an eggnog muffin or cranberry scone to go with your morning coffee. Rhino Coffee Uptown is open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday. Rhino Coffee Downtown is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday.
If you’re more of a tea person, Glenwood Tea Room has tea lattes that come in three holiday flavors: gingerbread, salted caramel cocoa and tres leches. Pair it with a Sugar Plum Scone and pick up a bag of Sugar Plum Spice tea leaves from their gift shop to take home with you. Glenwood Tea Room is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
Buttercups Cupcakes is now selling six new cupcake flavors for the holiday season. The new flavors are Gingerbread, Eggnog Cheesecake, Green Grinch Chocolate Mint, Santa’s Sugar Cookie, Hot Cocoa, and Candied Cranberry. Buttercups Cupcakes is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Whisk Dessert Bar has added house-made hot chocolate to their menu for the winter. The hot chocolate is topped with a scoop from a foot-tall disc of handmade marshmallow that is roasted by a blowtorch tableside. Some of their seasonal desserts include an eggnog cake shaped like a mug of hot chocolate and a white chocolate cheesecake with a gingerbread crust. Whisk Dessert Bar is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday; and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
