Shreveport-Bossier to Host Events on Thanksgiving Weekend
Families can enjoy five different attractions and events in the Shreveport-Bossier area between Nov. 23 and Nov. 26
SHREVEPORT, LA – Families spending the Thanksgiving weekend in Shreveport-Bossier can visit up to five attractions and events including light displays, art exhibitions, and fireworks.
On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, families can visit the town of Greenwood to view Christmas lights. Greenwood has been expanding its holiday light collection for years, and now has thousands of lights along Highway 80.
On Black Friday, Nov. 24, families can visit the Christmas Jubilee at Jubilee Zoo. This attraction will include a “snow” pit, hot chocolate, bounce houses, Carol to the Critters hayride, and more. Hours will are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jubilee Zoo is located at 6402 Highway 1 North in Shreveport.
Also on Black Friday, families can visit Christmas in Roseland, a winter wonderland with over one million holiday lights. Christmas in Roseland will be held at the American Rose Center, a 26-acre park dedicated to roses. The attraction will feature an eight-foot singing Christmas tree, human-sized Christmas cards, pictures with Santa, train rides, and a “snow blizzard.” There will be entertainment and concessions. $20 per carload or $5 per person – ages 2 and under get in free. The American Rose Center is located at 8877 Jefferson-Paige Road in Greenwood, La.
On Saturday, Nov. 25, families can visit Holidaze @ Artspace. Holidaze is a holiday inspired art exhibition. Visitors can purchase artwork from 26 northwest Louisiana artists. The exhibition will have jewelry, holiday gifts, and specialty items available for purchase. There will also be live entertainment and snacks. The exhibition is free, and will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Also on Saturday, Nov. 25, families can enjoy Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The annual holiday fireworks festival will be held on the riverfronts in Shreveport and Bossier. The event will offer festivities on both sides of the Red River – in downtown Shreveport’s Riverview Park, and at the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets in Bossier City. Both viewing areas will offer live entertainment and kids’ activities. All restaurants and shops in the area of the festival will be open before and after the fireworks show. This event is free and open to the public.
