Monroe to Host Family Events the Saturday after Thanksgiving

Families can enjoy up to five different attractions and events in Monroe-West Monroe on Saturday, Nov. 25

MONROE, LA – Monroe-West Monroe will have five family-friendly attractions and events on Saturday, Nov. 25. All five attractions and events can be visited in one day. They include ice skating, a movie, and Christmas lights.

Santa’s Christmas Village at the Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum, located at 323 Walnut Street offers an ice skating rink in the parking lot, as well as Mount Sneaux, a 30-foot inflatable slide. Inside children will be able to write letters to Santa, decorate cookies, enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus, and play in the “snow” that falls every hour. Santa’s Christmas Village also features a talking Christmas tree talk show entitled “Tree Jays.” This year, new decorations have been added and a new photo opportunity will be available. Admission to Santa’s Christmas Village is $7 per person for ages 1 and up. Families can participate in ice skating for $5 per skater.

An outdoor showing of Elf  starring Will Ferrell starts at 5:30 p.m. Immediately following the movie will be outdoor karaoke. Both of these events will take place in Antique Alley, located in the 100-400 Blocks of Trenton Street.

Holiday Lights at Christmas on the River will take place in downtown Monroe-West Monroe. Visitors can walk through the tunnel of lights at the Land of Lights, reminisce at Throwback Christmas, and view the Roe City Riverboat. Candy Cane Lane, a new attraction is located at 170 Highway 151 North in Calhoun, La. It is a drive-through Christmas light display featuring over one million lights on a mile-long wooded road.
