Five Holiday Events in Shreveport-Bossier That You Don’t Want to Miss

There’s not any Christmas music playing yet, but stores all over Shreveport-Bossier have already started putting up their Christmas decorations. It’s a constant reminder that the most wonderful time of the year is quickly approaching. It’s never too early to get in the holiday spirit. So check out this list of the top five upcoming holiday festivities in Shreveport-Bossier and start planning which holiday events you’ll attend this year!

Less than a month away, on Nov. 10, the Moscow Ballet will be performing the Great Russian Nutcracker at The Strand Theatre. The Nutcracker has always been a season staple, and with world-class Russian artists and hand-painted sets, this isn’t a show that you’re going to want to miss. Tickets are $28-$175 and can be purchased at www.thestrandtheatre.com.

Every year during the holiday season, the American Rose Center transforms into the most picturesque winter wonderland with thousands of twinkling lights, dozens of lighted displays, nightly entertainment, and more. Whether you’re trying to get the perfect Christmas pictures, riding the Roseland Express train through the garden, or meeting Santa Claus, Christmas in Roseland is fun for the whole family. Christmas in Roseland is open 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday-Sunday from Nov. 23 to Dec. 16; and 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., nightly, December 17-23. Tickets are $5-$20. There’s no better way to celebrate than with fireworks at Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival. You can watch the fireworks from Riverview Park or Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets. At Riverview Park, there will be festival-style fun including live music, children’s activities and more. Visitors at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets can enjoy live music, snow and Black Friday shopping at the shops in the outlet mall. Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 24. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.rocketsoverthered.com.

The fireworks at Christmas on Caddo Fireworks Festival, presented by Pyromania Fireworks, are bound to leave you in awe. Apart from the breathtaking fireworks show, there will be a bounce house, arts and crafts, food booths, and more. If that wasn’t enough, Santa will be there to take pictures and give gifts to the children. Christmas on Caddo Fireworks Festival is from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 at Earl G. Williamson Park. For many people, the holidays don’t start until they watch “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” You normally would have to settle for the TV special. But this year, “A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live on Stage” is coming to The Strand Theatre. On Dec. 20, you can watch the classic Peanuts characters put on their own Christmas play, sing iconic Christmas carols and discover the true meaning of the season just in time for the holidays. Tickets are $35-$55 and can be purchased at www.thestrandtheatre.com
