Christmas at the Dorcheat Historical Museum
The Dorcheat Historical Museum in Minden is where the great stories of the parish’s past are preserved and told to people all over the world. Inside, the museum is full of historic artifacts including a log cabin.
One of the most popular exhibits deal with the disasters that struck the parish in 1933. Most notably, the tornado that swept through downtown. Many people are surprised at the number of famous people hailing from Webster Parish. The fourth man to walk on the moon, Alan Bean, was raised in Minden. Grammy award winners The Cox Family lives around the parish. One of the most famous Webster Parish natives is country music superstar Trace Atkins.
Tours are free and take place Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Open on Saturdays for special groups by appointment.
