Beloved Rockets Over the Red is back, Nov. 26

Rockets Over the Red, Nov. 26, in downtown Shreveport, La.

Time is quickly ticking away until Christmas. That’s insane. It seems like we were just putting away last year’s Christmas decorations and starting the New Year teeming with hopes, dreams and plans for an awesome 2016.

And awesome it’s been for the cities of Shreveport and Bossier. Both mayors, the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, Cumulus Radio and the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets have partnered to bring back the beloved Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival, Saturday, Nov. 26.

This year’s event will mark the re-opening of the renovated Riverview Park in downtown Shreveport. The community is pulling together to kick the day’s entertainment off at 2 p.m. with a parade procession down Commerce Street to Riverview Park, where there will be choirs and bands. Food vendors and children activities will fill the day until the main event – fireworks – at 6:30 p.m.

Both cities will switch the lights on to two of the tallest, outdoor Christmas trees in north Louisiana with one towering at a majestic 50 feet tall. This will signal the onset of Christmas magic in the sister cities.

“We are excited to bring the fireworks for Rockets over the Red again this year,” said Curtis Elkins, owner of Pyromania Fireworks, LLC and master of fireworks displays for festivals and events all over north Louisiana.

“Fireworks will be shot from behind the Barnwell Garden and Art Center, as well as cascade from the Texas Street Bridge while simultaneously choreographed to Christmas music. You do not want to miss one of the most spectacular display over the Red River on November 26.”

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to get good parking and a great spot on the riverfront for fireworks viewing at Riverview Park in Shreveport or the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets in Bossier.

All restaurants and shops in the area of the festival – Red River District in Shreveport and Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets in Bossier City – will be open before and after the fireworks show. Check out the website, www.rocketsoverthered.com for event updates. The official event hashtag for social sharing is #RocketsOverTheRed. Book a hotel in Shreveport, today.
