At the Heart of the Holidays Enjoy Family Activities

Alexandria, LA – The holidays are always warm and inviting in the Heart of Louisiana.

The Alexandria and Pineville area, located in the center of the state and known as the Heart of Louisiana, offers a perfect combination of activities for the entire family to enjoy throughout the months of November and December.

Events will include a holiday concert by the Rapides Symphony Orchestra, a performance of “The Nutcracker” by the Red River Dance Company, the annual “Christmas Spectacular”, community parades, light displays, holiday home tours, and more!

One of the favorite events of the year is an Old Fashioned Christmas at Kent Plantation House. This family-friendly event is where ornaments are decorated like the ornaments from the early 1800s, family members can participate in the bell ringing entertainment and pictures can be taken with Papa Noel.

Experience the Alexandria Zoological Park in a different light – Christmas lights. Enjoy the thousands of sparkling lights at the Zoo’s Holiday Light Safari each weekend in December.  With live entertainment, Santa Claus and more, the Holiday Light Safari is a family-friendly event that you do not want to miss this holiday season.

The Alexandria Garden District Holiday Tour of Homes will return for its second year on Saturday, December 12. Four homes will be on tour, each with individual history and architectural character, with a special stop at 1921 Jackson Street, a Coffee House.

The City of Alexandria presents their 12 Nights of Christmas encompassing holiday activities throughout the area. From holiday cantatas to community parades, the 12 Nights of Christmas is a spirited way to experience the holidays in Central Louisiana.
