Presents

WHITE ON WHITE
A WINTER SEASON JURIED EXHIBITION
OF THE MANY HUES AND SHADES OF WHITE
December 5, 2008 through December 31, 2008

ELIGIBILITY: The Friends of the Barnwell Center is issuing a call to artists 18
years and older working in 2 and 3 dimensional mediums.
OBJECTIVE: To present an exhibition of original work by professional artists from
the ARK-LA-TEX region.

EXHIBITION CALENDAR:
November 7 Deadline for submissions:
Mailed entries must be received at the Barnwell
Center no later than 4 PM.
Mailed entries received after this date will not be
accepted. There is no postmark deadline.
Hand delivered entries may be received between
the hours of 10AM and no later than 4PM at the Barnwell
Center.
e-mail entries will not be accepted.

November 10 Jury Consideration Process

November 11 Notification by postcard and e-mail for selected work

November 12 Notification by postcard and e-mail for work not selected

November 30 Delivery of selected work from 1 to 4 PM

December 1 Placing and hanging of the exhibition

December 5 Exhibition Opens to the Public

December 31 Exhibition Closes

January 2 and 3 Pick up of art work between the hours of
10AM - 4PM on Friday and Saturday.

January 4 Last day to pick up work is Sunday from 1 – 5 PM.

There is no storage space in the Barnwell Center. The
Friends of the Barnwell and the City of Shreveport will
not be held responsible for work left after the pick up date
deadline.

NO ENTRY FEE

SUBMISSIONS:
The artist may submit up to three works in slide or digital format. Selected artists will be
represented by one to two works only.

Slide entry directions: Slide entries must be 35mm color in a 2” x 2” mount (no glass
slides will be accepted) Slides must have the following information entered on the slide:

For Two Dimensional work: Artist Name, Title, Image Size, Framed Size and Medium.

For Three Dimensional work: Artist Name, Title, Height x Width x Depth and Medium.

Please submit two slides per Three Dimensional work (front view and side view).

Digital image entry directions: Only jpg files will be accepted. The CD should be
labeled on the disc with the following information in permanent ink: Artist Name, Title and
corresponding number of location on CD if more than one image, Image Size, Framed Size if
two dimensional (if submission is a three dimensional work: height x width x depth) and
Medium for each work submitted.
No e-mail entries will be accepted.
Slides or CDs of artwork not selected will be returned if accompanied by a stamped
and self addressed envelope or may be picked up at the Barnwell Center beginning
December 7th.
Slides or CDs of artwork selected will be returned at the close of the exhibit when
the artist picks up their artwork.

STATEMENT OF LIABILITY:
Although the utmost care against damage will be taken in handling slides, digital entries and
the works of art, The Friends of the Barnwell and the City of Shreveport will not be responsible
for damage or loss, whatever the cause.

SALES:

The Friends of the Barnwell will handle all sales and will retain a commission of 30% of the
selling price for its service. Artists should adjust their prices accordingly. If work is not for
sale (NFS), the work must have an insurance amount included on the entry form. This
amount is usually 2/3 of the selling price.

FRAMING LIMITATIONS:

Minimum Framed Size: 16 x 20

Maximum Framed Size: 50 inches in either direction. If hung on a diagonal the diagonal
measurement shall not exceed 50 inches.
The work must be wired and ready for hanging. Saw tooth hangers and clip frames will NOT
be accepted.

NON ELIGIBLE:

WORK PRODUCED IN A WORKSHOP OR CLASS SETTING IS NOT ELIGIBLE

Work that has been previously exhibited at the Barnwell Center is not eligible

Reproductions, GICLEE, offset prints are not eligible

No digital media (audio, video or performance)

Crafts

All work must be original and source material must be original to the artist and not derived
from any published images or images taken by others without their permission.

No saw tooth hangers or clip frames
