Deck the Halls
A juried sale & exhibit Fri, Nov. 14, through Sat, Dec. 27

Shreveport, la. - The Deck the Halls Juried Holiday Art Sale and Exhibition will take place at Artspace, Nov. 14-Dec. 27.

The concept for the “Deck the Halls” Juried Holiday Art Sale and Exhibition is to provide regional artists a venue to sell original artworks to a “motivated” public. The “motivation” comes from the holiday time period from mid-November through late December when many people are shopping for holiday gifts. The artspace Exhibition Committee invites regional artists to submit works to be juried as follows:

A. Mainspace Exhibition and Sale:

“Strenuously Juried” fine art and fine crafts exhibition of works and sale will be featured on the first and second floor of artspace in a series of “galleries” that feature all accepted works in each medium: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, jewelry, wearable art, assemblage, mixed media, etc.

2. “Deck the Halls” Events and Activities:

A. Friday, November 14, 2008- 5:30 pm – Opening Night Party. Each selected artist will receive 10 invitations to share with friends.

B. Thursday, November 20, 2008 – Third Thursday Arts Trolley Tour 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

C. Weekly Events - There will be weekly events targeting downtown businesses and inviting them for an after-hours private “purchasing” party.

3. Pricing:

Artists should provide SRAC a “range” to offer their works at 10%, 20%, or 30% “off” during special time periods in each week. Artists may choose any percentage for a discount; however, please keep in mind that the artist receives 70% of the sale. Also, all works sold at artspace are taxable. SRAC/artspace will collect, report, and pay the sales tax.

Examples of Pricing Structures:
A. Regular Price - $ 100
Artist receives - $ 70 (70%)

B. 10% Discount on $ 100 Piece = $ 90 sale price
Artist receives - $ 63 (70%)
SRAC strongly suggests offering a 10% discount for group/party bookings and/or for motivated buyers who may make several purchases.

C. 20% Discount on $ 100 Piece = $ 80 sale price
Artist receives - $ 56 (70%)

D. 30% Discount on $ 100 Piece = $ 70 sale price
Artist receives - $ 49 (70%)
Note: The 30% Discount should only be offered during the week after Christmas.

*All artists must agree to a 10% Discount for the Opening Night event.
Please Note: All pricing must be in full dollar amounts, No “cents” please.
