NOVEMBER

Nov 24: Wonderland of Lights Official Lighting Ceremony (6 p.m.). Experience the excitement and wonder as Marshall lights up the Texas sky and kicks off the 2010 holiday season with a dazzling “Dancing Light” display downtown – NEW! Watch as the master switch is thrown to add lights and displays to the historic Marshall Downtown. While the season displays and lighting closes on Jan 2nd 2011, some of the accent lighting will be extended until January 17th to add accent to outdoor ice skating on the Square.

Nov 24 – Jan 17: Experience the only “Outdoor Ice Rink” in the Ark-La-Tex! Come join thousands as they take advantage of a truly unique opportunity to ice skate on the Historic Square adjacent to one of the oldest courthouses in the State of Texas in beautiful downtown Marshall. Come see why this has become one of Marshall’s premier events each season. Three 90 minutes sessions nightly, $10 per session, skates furnished. Free bleacher seating will be added this year to provide an elevated view of the rink and skaters.

Nov 24 – Jan 2, 2011: Downtown Entertainment. Young and old alike will love new additions downtown to Wonderland this year, including a Mini-Express Trackless Train Ride, Ice Dancing Performances, Celebrity Chef Cooking Classes, a 15 ft Giant Texas Sized Snow Globe for a great photo setting, Santa & Elves strolling the streets at night for picture opportunities, Petting Zoo with Reindeer and Street Performers who will be singing and interacting with visitors – which will all join a Wonderland favorite, Santa’s Workshop, to add to your holiday season experience in Marshall, Texas!

Nov 24: Wonderland’s of Letters Hunt. Clues will be hidden within the Wonderland lights, displays, and events – one lucky winner will receive a roundtrip Amtrak trip for a family of 4 worth $3,000! (Sponsored by Amtrak and Marshall Ford)

Nov 26 - Dec 24: Bus Tours by Wonderland. Ride through the Marshall’s Wonderland with your own tour guide. Visit or call www.visitmarshalltexas.org 903-935-7868 - ext 6 to book your private or group tour guide. $10

Nov 27: Charlie Daniels Band – (7:30 p.m.) The Man with the Fiddle, need we say more! Award winning Charlie Daniel comes to the Marshall Convention Center as part of our Wonderland of Lights showcase of national headliners. DECEMBER

Dec 3: Carl Hurley & Jeanne Robertson – LIVE! (2 p.m.). Do not miss this chance to see two of the funniest stars of the SIRUS/XM radio family comedy channels. Enjoy this clean and never mean, knee slapping, humor as they entertain with their slap-stick punch lines and personal experiences. Dec 4: Roy Clark Christmas Show – (7:30 p.m.) Don’t miss this very special Christmas show by country legend Roy Clark and the Roy’s Toys Band. Award winning Roy Clark comes to the Marshall Convention Center as part of our Wonderland of Lights showcase of national headliners. Dec 4: Texas Cowboy Breakfast (7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.). Come enjoy the taste, sights and singers to accompany an old fashion, chuck wagon style country breakfast. $10 a heaping country plate.

Dec 7: Wonderland’s “Lighted” Parade (6 p.m.). The largest “lighted” holiday parade in the Ark-La-Tex. Thousands line the streets as the parade of lighted bands and floats roll through historic downtown Marshall. The event is FREE, but you can reserve special bleacher seating for $10 a seat by visiting or calling www.visitmarshalltexas.org 903-935-7868 - ext 6. Dec 11: The Sound of Music – the Von Trapp Family Christmas Show – (7:30 p.m.) Be captivated by the magical music of the Von Trap family that inspired the Sound of Music movie classic by Rogers & Hammerstein – this is a do not miss for the holiday season! This international tour comes to the Marshall Convention Center as part of our Wonderland of Lights showcase of national and international headliners. Dec 11: Santa arrives at the Historic Train Depot (9 p.m.). Bring the kids as Santa arrives by a special northern rail express with cookies, milk and a special Christmas Story. Santa arrives at 9 a.m. to get bells, 7 p.m. to hear the Santa Story and possibly win wonderful prizes including a roundtrip Amtrak trip for a family of 4 worth $3,000! The event is Free; contact the Historic T & P Railroad Museum at 903-938-9495 for more detailed information.

Dec 14: Wonderland’s Jingle Bell 5-K Run. Bundle up and race under the display of Marshall’s lights in this Annual 5-K Run through downtown. Pre-register by December 12th for $12 and receive and official Jungle Bell T-Shirt; registration the night of the race is $15 and does not include a t-shirt. (Sponsored by Good Shepherd Medical Center)

Dec 14: Wonderland’s Jingle Bell 1-K Family Fun Run/Walk. Bring the family and walk or run under the display of Marshall’s lights in this Annual 1-K “Fun” Run/Walk through downtown. This portion of the Jingle Bell Run is free for families and does not include a t-shirt; no registration is required. (Sponsored by Good Shepherd Medical Center)

Dec 17 – Dec 19: Annual SnowFest Slide – Bigger and Better (4 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. daily)! Slide down the slippery snow slopes in downtown Marshall. $3 per ride or $15

Dec 17 – Dec 18: Walk through Bethlehem (6 p.m. – 10 p.m.). Experience a walk through the Town of Bethlehem displays recreating the story of the birth of Christ. Dec 18 – Dec 19: Battle of the Choirs (9 a.m. – 9 p.m.)! Come hear the best choirs in the Ark-La-Tex battle it out in “Glee” style for a Cash Grand Prize and trophies. Dec 31: New Years on Ice! Special late night edition of ice skating to help you ring in 2011, till 12:30 a.m.
